Your Shark Bay bucket list

Make a few days of it.

We're a small family running this little patch of paradise, and these are the spots we send everyone to. Stay a few extra nights and tick off as many as you can.

Indi the camp dogIndi's favourite

Little Lagoon

Our camp dog votes with her paws, and Little Lagoon wins every time. It's a calm, shallow lagoon just north of town, lovely for a swim, a paddle, or a lazy afternoon by the water. Bring your thongs and a towel.

DonnaDonna's favourite

Sunset drinks at the Shark Bay Hotel

Donna reckons the simple stuff is the best stuff. Grab a drink, find a seat looking over the bay, and watch the sun melt into the water.

JulianJulian's favourite

Dirk Hartog Island

The fishing and diving out here are world-class, and they're Julian's real passion. Add rugged 4WD tracks, remote beaches and Australia's most westerly point, and you've got a day you'll be talking about for ages.

One of a kind

Shell Beach

A whole beach made of tiny white shells instead of sand, stretching as far as you can see. It's one of only a couple of places on earth like it. Well worth the drive south.

Easy walk, big views

Eagle Bluff Boardwalk

A gentle clifftop boardwalk with sweeping views over the bay. Look down and you'll often spot rays, sharks and turtles cruising the shallows below.

Red meets blue

Cape Peron & Skipjack Point

The tip of Francois Peron, where red cliffs drop into bright blue water. The Skipjack lookouts are one of the best places anywhere to watch dolphins, rays and sharks glide by below.

Worth the drive

Bottle Bay

Red dunes running straight into white sand and bright blue water. A proper 4WD adventure through Francois Peron National Park. Drop your tyre pressures at the homestead on the way in, pack a picnic, and take your time.

Great for the kids

Ocean Park Aquarium

Get up close with the local marine life and see what makes Shark Bay so special. Good fun for the little ones and the young at heart.
